ABOUT US

WHAT WE DO

We’re a specialist PE and BESD teaching agency. We aim to improve standards in PE and help every child become physically literate.

We work with primary and high schools across south Wales, from Swansea in the west to Monmouthshire in the east. We also work with schools in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

We provide supply teachers, cover supervisors, teaching assistants and 1:1 support staff.

We also run bespoke courses for young people with BESD who are still in mainstream education but need to follow an alternative curriculum.

WHO WE ARE

Rob Williams, Founder member and CEO

Rob is an experienced ex-teacher and education professional. He has been head of PE in a high school, PE advisor for a cluster of primary schools and has a wealth of experience working with young people who have BESD. Rob lectures on behaviour management and safe and good practice in PE at both the University of South Wales and Cardiff Metropolitan University, as part of their sports degree programmes. This means he’s always in touch with sports graduates and newly qualified PE teachers. As a result, PE Direct has the largest pool of PE specialists in south Wales and the west. Because of his experience Rob fully understands the demands schools and teachers face, and what you need from a professional teaching agency. You’ll see this in the quality of both our service and the staff we provide.

OUR COVER STAFF

All our staff are graduates, have up-to-date, enhanced DBS certificates and work to the Association for Physical Education’s Safe Practice in PE guidelines. We carefully match each member of staff to the learning environment, role and children or young people they’ll be working with.

We value our staff and look after them well. We follow the Agency Workers Regulations, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation code of professional practice and are registered with the Education Welfare Council in Wales.

WHY WE SPECIALISE IN PE

We understand the value of a well-run PE lesson. Physical activity helps children release tension and anxiety, build their self-confidence, improve their social skills and enjoy better emotional well-being. And children who learn to be confident in their physical ability are more likely to go on to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

Learning to move. Moving to Learn.

After a PE lesson, when children have been physically active, they’re more likely to settle and engage in the lessons that follow. So PE also has a positive impact on standards across the curriculum as a whole.

When Rob was head of PE at a local high school he would often call an agency to arrange cover, only for them to send him a history teacher. This meant the children would miss their PE lesson.

We want to make sure you have easy access to qualified PE teachers and sports coaches whenever you need them. And that the children in your school never miss a PE lesson again.
