Teaching Assistant job in Barry – Behaviour Support

We are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit in the Vale of Glamorgan and have a job available for a behaviour support Teaching Assistant. This job is to commence as soon as possible and is full time and long term.
As a behaviour support Teaching Assistant, you will be working as a part of a team to support a small group of pupils with behaviour difficulties. You will support them to understand and apply appropriate behaviour in the classroom as well as within social interaction systems and group scenarios. You will support them to implement healthy ways of expressing themselves and handling their emotions, guiding their behaviour to be positive, and assisting them to deal with real life situations and issues affecting them. You will be someone that they can identify with, providing a listening ear and a supportive approach in a role-modelling/mentoring capacity.
The right person for this job will be calm, supportive and nurturing. You will be able to develop a rapport with the pupils, as someone that they can look to for support and advice. You will ensure that they feel safe, secure and confident in asking for help and channelling their emotions effectively.
In order to apply for this role, you must have relevant and proven experience of working with children, experience of supporting those with behavioural issues, and excellent interpersonal skills.
