Established in 2015, we have since grown in-line with increasing demand from schools for the quality, specialist service we are able to provide. We have found our PE specialists make excellent Teaching Assistants who specialise in BESD (Behavioural Emotional & Social Difficulties).

PE Direct has long been aware of the difficulties of sourcing suitably qualified and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants for specific one to one roles which involve children who demonstrate challenging behaviour. Accordingly, we have developed a specialist SEN division run by Rob Williams, the founder of PE Direct, who previously was a head of PE. Rob has extensive experience of working with BESD pupils before setting up PE Direct. We are dedicated to sourcing high-quality SEN Teachers for a range of posts in a variety of schools and education centres across South Wales and we know from experience what is required and who will best suit each role!

Our specialist SEN Recruitment division works closely with a host of, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), Alternative Provisions and SEN provisions within mainstream schools across South Wales, providing them with a bespoke solution for their staffing needs. We recognise that SEN provisions have developed a unique learning environment and to optimise outcomes for their students, it is important that we match the right SEN professionals into this environment.

The growth of PE Direct within the SEN sector has been achieved by having a large pool of PE staff who naturally work well with BESD. Successful placements are continually achieved through accurately matching individual skills to teaching environments so they are best utilised in assisting students to reach their potential.

PE Direct also offer an ‘Alternative Curriculum’ for pupils still in main stream but on reduced hours due to BESD. We educate pupils off site using our highly trained specialists and use sport as the positive force – training pupils to be sports leaders.
